Soundtracs

UK based manufacturer of mixing consoles.

Now known as DiGiCo.

From LSI, July 2002
"Soundtracs 25-year history has been built around the supply of audio mixing consoles to the international pro audio industry. Traditionally, the Soundtracs audio path has been in the analogue domain, albeit often controlled digitally. However, seven years ago, along with others in the industry, Soundtracs began the shift to digital. At that time, suitably powerful cost-effective processors were unavailable, but considered a reality, so researchers at Soundtracs identified a silicon manufacturer with the necessary potential and co-operated closely with them on the development of a suitable processor.
As a result, in 1996 Soundtracs was able to launch its first fully digital console - Virtua - which established a precedent for digital audio at an analogue price. The following year saw the introduction of the DPC-II and two years later came the DS-3 digital console and the DS-M digital audio workstation with video control. Last year saw the introduction of the D4 digital console whilst this year's AES ushered in the new DS-3B - a 32-bit floating-point digital broadcast console."
