Electronic Control for Thyratron

  (1949)

From National Theatre, Reykjavik ()

This Thyratron control was the first lighting control for the National Theatre of Iceland. It was installed in December 1949 and January 1950 so was one of the very first of its kind to be installed.
It had 144 channels and was in use until 1977 which is quite remarkable. A total of 30 Thyratron controls had been installed by 1954 when production was discontinued due to the high cost of the Thyratron valves.
