Stewart trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and spent 15 years at Scottish Opera, before starting as a freelance production manager in 1990. Productions include: The Ship and The Big Picnic in the Shed, Glasgow; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King in London; Sunset Boulevard, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Beautiful Game and more than 20 international productions of The Phantom of the Opera.
London West End productions include: Me and My Girl, Show Boat, Notre-Dame de Paris, Napoleon, Lautrec, The Full Monty, Mamma Mia!, Contact, The Graduate, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Lady in the Van, The Caretaker, The Play What I Wrote, Breath of Life, Closer to Heaven, Rebecca, ‘Art’, Beautiful and Damned, Death of a Salesman, Ducktastic, I Am My Own Wife, Heroes, Daddy Cool, Dirty Dancing, Monty Python’s Spamalot, The Lord of the Rings, The Lady from Dubuque, Brief Encounter, Equus, The God of Carnage, Deathtrap, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, Sister Act, Rock of Ages, Ghost, Viva Forever!, Backbeat, Stephen Ward and The Girls.
