Video Walls
The show makes great use of a series of grid-like video walls which can appear solid or transparent, which are covered with millions of LEDs which produces a wrap-around video screen in which the actors and dancers perform.
The video designer, Jon Driscoll says on his website that there are 103 square metres of custom LED screen, and 50,000 lumens of projection.
The video system by the time the show got to Broadway was:
- 6 video projectors
- Motion-controlled video surfaces (scenic automation) – LED and projection
- SMPTE timecode synchronised wth the orchestra
- MIDI cues to trigger sound effects and musical accents.
There were also around 540 lighting cues.
