The Men Behind Multi-Q

Strand Century is proud of its accomplishments in the sales of Multi-Q and even prouder of its R&D Department who put the whole system together. We take this opportunity to introduce the men behind Multi-Q (in alphabetical order) to our readership.

Dave Cunningham, native Californian, mountain climber, spelunker, ex-four wheeler and brown belt Karate holder studied physics, chemistry and philosophy at the University of California, San Diego.
As an undergraduate he acted and directed with various theatre companies, and after graduation, joined the Muir College faculty where he taught courses in "Technology and the Arts" and "Experimental Theatre" for two years. He then served as director of the Experimental Theatre Project for three years which included work in a development lab, environmental theatre and a street theatre group.
Dave worked with Van Buren Industries in the development of their Compuset system before joining Strand Century to design the memory system of them all - Multi-Q

Leif Larsen joined Strand Century in November of 1975 and has since that time worked closely with Dave Cunningham in the design and development of Multi-Q.
He was graduated from the electronic engineering school in Copenhagen, directly after which he worked with motion picture production and recording studios in both Europe and the United States. Leif has had extensive experience in theatres around the world as technical director with "Up With People" which included responsibility for three road show companies each with a cast of 150. He designed the stereo sound re-enforcement systems, including the complex audio consoles for them. He has made shows seen and heard before mass audiences in India, Vietnam, Japan, Kenya and theatres a l l over Europe and the USA. His work with Strand Century goes back to the early days of Memo systems, and he was re- sponsible for the commissioning of the automated Sound and Light installation at Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC.. which opened in November, 1970.

Dennis Moore received his background training at the Radio Electronic Television School in Detroit, Michigan and then went on to earn a B.S.E.E. degree from Pacific States University in Los Angeles. He has worked with the Curtiss Wright Corp., the Bendix Corp. and began in the "memory systems' business" with Sicodim in 1969 where he was involved in the de- sign of Memo-0. In 1971, he accepted a position as Vice President-Chief Engineer with Van Buren Industries and was responsible for the development of the Sweet Sixteen system and Mini-Q for Strand Century. After returning to Strand Century for a time, Dennis went back to work as the project engineer on an Alpha Numeric Traveling Sign Display and on the system for the famous Point State Park fountain located in Pittsburgh. This latter system automatically controls the water and lighting for the phased-lock-loop techniques.

Thanks to this fabulous trio, we can look to the future and the many developments it will bring.
