Prelude Range, mid 1980s

650W Range introduced in 1981
The Prelude range has a robust, yet attractive and lightweight, fully integrated housing of finned, extruded sides and interlocking pressure die-castings. A rear grab handle is fitted and the alloy fork is adjustable in height and also laterally.

All in the Prelude series embody unique, high standards of safety including a separable power connector which has to be withdrawn before hinged internal access can be gained, also a safety bond anchorage on the housing and a sprung safety clip over the colour frame runners.

Lamp:
The Prelude range use either a T/18 (buy online) which is 500 Watts or a T/26 or T/27 (buy online) which are 650 Watts.
To replace the lamp you need to unplug the power cable, turn the small clip at the front of the lamp tray (just back from the lens). This will allow the lamp tray to hinge open. If the lamp is hot, let it cool before handling. Use gloves to grip the lamp base (beige ceramic) and carefully wiggle / pull it upwards and out of the lamp holder. Replace the lamp in the same way, making sure you don't touch the quartz envelope (bulb) of the lamp with bare skin.

The range stopped production sometime after 1998 (to be confirmed).

SPARES:
The IEC mains inlet connectors were made by German manufacturer Otto Heil, but seem to be no longer available. CCT Lighting have one listed on their website, but I'm not sure if they fit - if you know, please let me know!
