UK – Brighton – Theatre Royal

Dates; 1807 – present

One of a small number of theatres still using hemp ropes as a flying system. The ropes are replaced every 10 years. The old ropes are donated to Drusillas Park, a wildlife park/zoo in East Sussex.

The full flying system uses a total of 4896m of hemp rope. 

The Theatre Royal Brighton is the 3rd oldest continuously operating purpose-built theatre in the UK.
