Tommy Steele was injured on 31 May 1992 when his motorbike (in the show) skidded on some beads which had fallen off his costume, causing him to fall off. His understudy took over subsequent performances whilst he recovered (he had badly bruised his back, and was receiving physiotherapy). However, the show never recovered and closed on 20 June despite his returning on 11 June.
