2000W Fresnel
Introduced in December 1959 (ref. Tabs 17/3), with its' debut being in Harold Fieldings' Aladdin at the London Coliseum
Replaced Patt.43 in 1960
Designed by Morgan McLeod.

A modification was made for the German market, by Strand Germany, consisting of a colour frame cassette which could be fitted to the front of the lantern. This enabled the use of coloured glass as well as frames with standard filters (see photo from 1972, below)

Patt.243 - 
Patt.243BP - Bi-post lamp version, intended for the TV market
Patt.243R - TBC
Patt.243TV - Adapted for TV studios with lens guard, carrying handle, internal terminal block and TV spigot. 
Patt.243TV Polestar - As above plus connections for pan/tilt/focus pole-operation in TV studios
