Colour Change Infinity
The recent opening of Lenny, at the Queens Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue London, saw the debut of a revolutionary new product from Wybron that will soon be the lighting designer's preferred scroller system - the Colour X Infinity (CXI).
The colour mixing system is a landmark product. Using two gel strings made up of graduated frames of cyan, yellow and magenta, virtually every colour of the spectrum can be called up including commonly used gel colours from Rosco, Lee and Gam. Award winning Lighting designer Rick Fisher used a combination of CXI, Mac 500 and 600s and traditional scrollers on Lenny and both he and moving light programmer Rob Halliday were impressed by the colour accuracy.
In an on-stage comparison, they called up various colours in the traditional scrollers and matched them colour for colour with those from the CXI. The colours were accurate and very little light loss was seen. Unlike competing products such as the ColourFader there are no perforations in the scrolls and therefore no patterning is seen on stage. Lenny, which charts the life of comedian Lenny Bruce, stars Eddie Izzard and is directed by Sir Peter Hall.
